What is an ACO?

An Accountable Care Organization (ACO) is an invite-only network of Medicare providers who deliver high-quality care to their patients while reducing costs. When the network succeeds, providers share in the savings.

For years, ACOs were built around hospitals and large physician groups. NPs were left out. Duet's ACO changes that — putting NP owners at the center of a model they've always been capable of leading.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Things NPs ask us

• How do I find out if I qualify?
  We review your eligibility together based on your patient panel and data from Medicare, and extend you an invitation.

• How are shared savings determined?
  Medicare sets a spending benchmark for your patient panel. When the total cost comes in below that benchmark, the savings are shared among providers.

• Does anything change about my care model?
  No. You keep your practice, your patients, and your clinical decision-making. Joining the ACO adds resources and financial benefits — it doesn't change how you practice.

• Is there a cost to join?
  No. High-performing NP practices are invited to join at no charge.

• Does this require any additional work?
  Most NPs spend fewer than 2 hours per month on ACO-related activities. Duet handles most of the work.

• What if I'm already in a value-based care program?
  Many value-based programs do not overlap with a Medicare ACO. Our team reviews your current contracts to ensure participation is compatible.
